Childhood activities are offered to families during the Even Start Centers.
The Even Start Child Care Center is coordinated by our Family Educator/Early
Childhood Coordinator, Stacie Lambe. There are also 2 child care aides,
Nancy Guenther and Cheryl Hamilton, on staff to assist in the center.
Volunteers play an important role as well. Once a month volunteers from
the UW-Extension's First Book Program visit the Child Care Center to read
and do activities with the children.
Preschool Readiness is a primary focus of the Child Care Center. The Center is set up with developmentally appropriate stations including a creative writing and computer center. There is also an Infant/Toddler Play Area. Language rich activities to build sound awareness and attention to the rhythm of speech are a big part of learning in the center. Besides the Child Care Center we also utilize a vacant room across the hall for large motor activities. The school facility has a gym and outdoor playground which we utilize as well.
